Role + Process:

3D modeling, lighting, texturing, rendering, and video editing.
All geometry and animation was created with Cinema 4D and X-Particles. Lighting was handled with Octane Render. Texturing was completed with Octane Render's native material system. Color correction and video editing were handled with Premiere Pro.

In wanting to create something organic with a facet of implausibility, I decided to dive into Cinema 4D and play around with a couple of systems within X-Particles
The setup consists of a simple tendril system with the resulting splines meshed
To create the orbs along the stalks, I used a Mograph Cloner obect to apply spheres along the tendrils
The resulting form was then added to a Volume Builder where several smoothing filters were applied before being meshed
Once meshed, I duplicated the spheres which were cloned to the tendrils and made their radii slightly smaller than their original copies so that when an emissive material was applied, there would be a discernible gap between the tendril’s form and the space within
